Q. ディコーディングができるようになると、どのようなメリットがあるのでしょうか？
A. 英語のように、綴りと発音が一致しない言語では、「なんとなく」で読んでしまうクセがつきやすく、意味を取り違えたり、聞き取れない原因になります。ディコーディングの力を身につけることで、こうした読み間違いを減らし、正確に文字よ読む力が育ちます。それは、英語を使ってコミュニケーションができる状態への第一歩です。
Q. トレーニング内に出現する単語やフレーズの意味は覚えたほうが良いですか？
A. ディコーディングの目的は、文字や単語の見間違いを防ぎ、文字認知を自動化することです。そのため、意味は覚えなくて構いません。
Q. ディコーディングは接頭辞や接尾辞を見分けることとは違うのでしょうか？
A. 接頭辞とは、unhappy（不幸な）の “un” のように、語の前について意味を加える要素です。また、接尾辞とは、teacher（教師）の “er” のように、語の後ろについて意味を加える要素です。ディコーディングは接頭辞・接尾辞を区別するのではなく、あくまで語（またはフレーズ）全体の認識能力を高めるために行います。そのため、本トレーニングでは、tea（茶）やfilm（映画）のように、接頭辞・接尾辞を区別できない語もふんだんに出てきます。

Trip to the Museum
Today, our class took a trip to the local museum. We saw a lot of old tools, toys, and paintings. The teacher talked about the history behind each item and taught us to think about how people lived long ago.
There was also a special room with tiny models of towns and trains. I took photos and tried to take notes during the tour. It was a terrific way to learn.
Q. 文中に知らない単語がたくさんあります。意味を調べたほうが良いですか？
A. いいえ、今の段階では、英単語の意味を調べる必要はありません。本レッスンはディコーディング（文字認知の自動化）を目的に行っています。そのため、意味については無視して構いません。
Q. 英文を読んでも意味がわかりません。
A. 本トレーニングは、ディコーディング（文字認知の自動化）を目的に行っています。リーディング（長文読解）の練習ではありません。そのため、英文を読んだり、意味を理解する必要はありません。
Q. 英文を音読する必要はありますか？
A. いいえ、音読をする必要はありません。音読の練習は、別のトレーニングで行っていきます。今は、ディコーディングのみ行えば大丈夫です。
